Final SAFFI Project Meeting Hosted in Tübingen

Last annual SAFFI meeting took place in Tübingen, followed by SAFFI training

Computomics is partner of the SAFFI (Safe Food for Infants) project, a joint initiative between China and the EU that aims at characterisation, detection, and mitigation of chemical and microbial hazards along the infant food chain.

Participants in Tübingen for Final Project Meeting

This July, we were pleased to welcome our international collaborators of the SAFFI Project on our premises. For the last annual SAFFI meeting, we met in our home town, the lovely Swabian university city of Tübingen. During the 2-day event we updated each other and discussed exploitable results of the project. It was an honor for us to work with such an excellent team of industrial and academic partners.

We emphasize the need of support systems for hazard detection and decision support in the future - and not only in the infant food sector. Moreover, we see the need for interdisciplinary approaches, e.g. by combining chemical and microbial risk assessment - for immediate intervention as well as for preventive actions.

We'd like to thank all participants for their contributions. We’d also like to thank the Open Innovation Center Westspitze for supporting us with the event & catering.

Advanced Analytics for Food Safety Training

As part of the SAFFI project and directly following the Annual SAFFI Meeting, the Continuing Education Course on "Advanced Analytics for Food Safety" took place in Tübingen. The Hybrid event was held by three inspiring talks:

Evangelina Krystalli from Jotis, Greece, gave insights in the food production process and the identification of chemical contaminants.

Erwan Endel from INRAE, France, provided an update on recent advances on detection, mitigation and surveillance of chemical hazards.

Sascha Patz from Computomics, Germany, concluded the event with a talk on microbial food analysis to assure quality, safety and circularity as part of the "One Health" concept.

We thank all local and online participants for their participation and announce the release of the certificates.

Visit to downtown Tübingen

We were happy to take the opportunity to discuss the current needs in the field with our attendees. With several of our visitors we also ventured on a rainy day tour through downtown Tübingen. We visited the painted town hall from 1435 and the castle where Friedrich Miescher discovered the DNA as part of the nucleus.

Thanks to all participants for a great collaboration!
